  • Description

MR. ANDREI GROMYKO, THE SOVIET FOREIGN MINISTER, HAD A TWO-HOUR TALK IN LONDON TODAY (THURSDAY) WITH MR. HAROLD WILSON, BRITAIN'S PRIME MINISTER. NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT WAS ISSUED BUT IT'S BELIEVED THEY DISCUSSED THE FORTHCOMING VISIT TO BRITAIN OF MR. KOSYGIN, THE RUSSIAN PRIME MINISTER.

THE DISCUSSION BETWEEN RUSSIA'S FOREIGN MINISTER AND MR. WILSON IS THOUGHT TO HAVE CLEARED UP EARLIER DOUBTS THAT MR. KOSYGIN MIGHT POSTPONE HIS LONDON VISIT BECAUSE OF THE VIETNAM CRISIS. VIETNAM WAS ALSO BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED DURING THEIR TALKS.

AS HE LEFT DOWNING STREET, MR. GROMYKO TOLD REPORTERS: "I THINK THE TALK WAS VERY USEFUL". TOMORROW, HE HAS A FINAL TALK WITH MR. MICHAEL STEWART, THE BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY, AND WILL FLY HOME ON SATURDAY.
