Background: ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS DOMESTIC FLIGHT 175 LOADING 75 PASSENGERS AND 6 CREWS PILOTED BY CAPTAIN MITSUO MIKAMI LEFT NAGOYA AIRPORT, NO 3RD LARGEST CITY IN JAPAN TO SAPPORO, HOKKAIDO ISLAND, NORTHERN PART OF JAPAN AT 1615 THIS AFTERNOON WAS SUDDENLY THREATENED BY A YOUNGMAN WHO POSED A REVOLVER TO THE CREW OF THE PLAN ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER THE PLANE TOOK OFF AND ORDERED THE CAPTAIN TO LAND AT HAMAMATSU SELF DEFENSE FORCES AIRBASE. THE CAPTAIN CONTACTED ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS TOKYO OFFICE IMMEDIATELY AND SIGNALLED TO THE AIRFIELD OF GROUND FORCES IMMEDIATELY AND LANDED AT THE HAMAMATSI AIRFIELD AT 1640. AFTER NEGOTIATION, THE CRIMINAL AGREED TO UNLOAD 50 PASSENGERS AT THE AIRFIELD AND DEMANDED A RIFLE AND 100 BULLETS FROM THE JAPANESE AIR FORCE AND ALSO TWO CANS OF FIVE GALLON GASOLINE FILLED TIN IN CASE HIS DESIRE WAS NOT FILLED, HE MIGHT BURN THE PLANE. HOWEVER, 150 POLICEMEN RUSHED TO THE AIRFIELD AND GUARDED THE PLANE IN ASSOCIATION OF THE AIRFORCE SOLDIERS. O THE OTHER HAND, THE PILOT MR. MITSUO MIKAMI TELEPHONED TO THE CONTROL TOWER THAT THE CRIMINALS REVOLVER LOOKS LIKE A TOY SO THE CAPTAIN SPOKE TO THE CRIMINAL THAT ONE OF THE PASSENGERS (A WOMAN LOOKS LIKE IN INTERESTING CONDITION AND SHE IS IN NEED OF URGENT TREATMENT BY DOCTOR AS SHE MIGHT GAVE A BIRTH AND THE CRIMINAL AGREED TO UNLOAD THIS WOMAN FROM THE REAR EXIT OF THE PLANE. THREE POLICEMEN WHERE STAND BY OUTSIDE AND AS SOON AS THE DOOR WAS OPENED, THESE THREE POLICEMEN HEADED BY LIEUTENANT OHOTA, CHIEF OF THE HAMAMATSU CENTRAL POLICE OFFICE GET INSIDE THE PLANE AND SPOKE TO THE CRIMINAL SAYING "DON'T TRY ANYTHING VIOLENT" AND CAPTURED THE CRIMINAL. THIS WAS EXACTLY TWO HOURS AFTER THE TAKEOFF. HE WAS ARRESTED TO THE HAMAMATSU POLICE STATION IMMEDIATELY BY POLICE CAR. HE WAS FOUND AS SACHIO INGAKI 24 YEARS OLD, FORMER COOK TRAINEE IN HAMAMATSU CITY. ACCORDING TO INVESTIGATION, HE CONFESSED THAT HE TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE HIMSELF AFTER BROKEN LOVE BUT, HE HAD NO COURAGE TO COMMIT SUICIDE HIMSELF AND TRIED TO HIJACK THE PLANE AND ASKED THE CAPTAIN TO LAND
THE HAMAMATSU AIRFIELD OF THE DEFENSE FORCES. HE EXPECTED THAT AIR FORCE SOLDIER MIGHT SHOOT HIM INSTEAD OF TO SUICIDE HIMSELF. HE HAD NO IDEA TO ASK THE CAPTAIN TO FLY TO OTHER COUNTRY JUST WANTED TO LAND HAMAMATSU CITY WHICH IS HIS NATIVE PLACE. FORTUNATELY, NOBODY WAS HURT AND THE PLANE WAS SAFE. ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS DECIDED TO LIFT ALL PASSENGERS TO SAPPORO CITY, THE DESTINATION SHORTLY AFTER 2300 p.m. TONIGHT. THE INAGAKI CONFESSED THAT HE BOUGHT A TOY REVOLVER WITH A PRICE OF 1,500 AT A TOY SHOP IN HAMAMATSU ON HIS WAY TO NAGOYA AIRPORT AND THIRD TO GET HOLD OF REAL RIFLE AT THE HAMAMATSU AIRFIELD DEMANDING IT IN EXCHANGE OF THE LIVES OF PASSENGERS. TOKYO AND OSAKA AIRPORTS NOW HAVE CHECKING SYSTEM OF THE PASSENGERS IN PREVENTION OF HIJACK INCIDENT THOUGH NAGOYA AIRPORT IS EXPECTED TO START THIS PRECAUTION SYSTEM FROM AUGUST 26TH. AT TOKYO AND OSAKA AIRPORT, THERE ARE MANY POLICEMEN AND PRIVATE CLOTHE GAURDMEN ARE CHECKING PASSENGERS AND THEIR BAGGAGE WITH SPECIAL DETECTORS. BUT, THEY DID NOT CHECK ANY PASSENGERS OR BAGGAGE AT NAGOYA AIRPORT AS IT IS SO CLOSE TO TOKYO WHERE ONE CAN REACH BY 30 MINUTES BY AIR EITHER TOKYO OR OSAKA CITY. IT TAKES ONLY TWO HOURS BY TRAIN FROM TOKYO AND ONE HOUR FROM OSAKA. THERE WAS NO POLITICAL OR MASS PLOT TO HIJACK THE PLANE IN THIS TIME AND EVERYTHING WAS OVER LATE TONIGHT.
