  • Description

At his Embassy at The Hague on 21st November, the Canadian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Thomas Stone, received representatives of the Dutch Press, to bid farewell to them on his leaving Holland. (Mr. and Mrs. Stone sail for England on 27th November and will leave Southampton in the Queen Elizabeth on 29th November for New York, en route to their country estate in South Carolina, where they will spend a quiet holiday before going on to Ottawa in early February).

Mr. Stone, who took up his present post in February, 1952, has been a most popular Ambassador. To the Press representatives he said that everyone he had met in Holland had showed him kindness and friendship, and he was very grateful to the newspapers for their helpfulness during his six years as Ambassador.

Mr. Stone is to be succeeded as Ambassador by Mr. Charles Hobert, who has been Canadian Ambassador to Belgium and Minister to Luxembourg since 1954.
