President Kaunda of Zambia officially opened the country's Natural Resources College in Lusaka on Wednesday (5 April).

"This is a most appropriate moment to remind all our young people, whether they are primary, college or university level, of the importance of the dignity of labour. They must not think that this country will be developed by people sitting on their laurels. Only by hard, both manual and otherwise, can we hope to develop this young nation to the full."

Background: President Kaunda of Zambia officially opened the country's Natural Resources College in Lusaka on Wednesday (5 April). Later in the day diplomas were awarded to successful students who have spent two years studying for their examinations.
President Kaunda was accompanied by Mr. Elijah Mudenda, the minister of agriculture who presented the diplomas to the successful students.
The examination covered a variety of subjects including animal management, water affairs, agricultural commerce, technical surveying and draughtsmanship and planning.
At the opening ceremony President Kaunda addressed the audience. He said.
