Background: The city of Tashkent has been badly affected by earthquakes. It now symbolises the friendship and fraternity of Soviet peoples.
Friends in all parts of the country are helping Tashkent to remove the destruction. They are architects, engineers, builders.
Children of Tashkent arrived in Moscow boarding-school number 68 before the 1st of September. Prior to that, they had had a month's vacation in summer camps near Moscow. Schoolchildren of the Uzbek capital will live and study in boarding-schools of Moscow, Leningrad and other cities this winter.
The children already feel quite comfortable in the new place. Greetings from Moscow are conveyed to his family by Zainab Ruzieva. She has eleven brothers and sisters. The girl devotedly keeps their pictures. The school has received five hundred boys and girls from Tashkent.
Muscovite are displaying great concern for the children. By the new academic year they gave them all free school uniforms, textbooks, warm dresses, costumes and coats.
The teachers have cordially met the children. Their bedrooms are neat the tidy, the classrooms are full of light. The schools have well-equipped rooms for classes in physics, biology and chemistry.
The spacious dining-room is full of noise. Good cooks have prepared a tasty dinner, with a huge water-melon for dessert.
The time will fly fast, and the children will return to their own rehabilitated city.
