  • Description

INTRODUCTION: Cricket.....and before a huge crowd on the first day of the centenary test match in Melbourne, Australia, England, the underdogs, surprised everyone by bowling the Australians out for 138. Australia have won both the two last series between the sides. The last time England visited Australia two years ago they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat, mainly due to the two Australian fast bowlers Jeff Thomson and Dennis Lillee. In this match to celebrate 100 years of test cricket between the two sides, an Australian win is confidently expected, but with England 29 for 1 at the end of the first day in reply to Australia's 138, there is no sign of that at the moment. England fast bowler Bob Willis, who broke Australian batsman Ric McCosker's jaw taking the first wicket; John Lever, Chris Old and Derek Underwood all bowled well for England. English captain Tony Greig won the toss.
