Background: Ma Ching-shan, who competed in the marksmanship events for the Taiwan delegation to the Tokyo Olympic Games and Chen Chueh who was a member of the Taiwan Olympic Study Mission returned to the Chinese mainland on November 6th. They arrived at the new Tientsin Harbour on board the Japanese freighter the S.S. Shinho Maru. The Chinese compatriots were accompanied from Tokyo by Seikichi Ueda, a Japanese lawyer and Po Jen, Director of the Tokyo Association of Chinese Resistents. Several hundred people greeted them at the water front among whom were Chang Ching-chi, Tung Shou-yi and Chien Chin-fu and other leading personages of the sports circle.

Among the welcomers are also Ma Ching Shan's father and his two brothers.

Ma Ching-shan and Chen Chueh announced in Tokyo on October 23rd and 29th. Respectively that they had severed all connections with the Chiang Kai-shek clique and resolutely demanded to return to the Chinese mainland. Their action is warmly welcomed by the people of their motherland.
