    Gabon and India on Tuesday (15 October) signed a protocol providing liberal Indian investment in the African state.

    Indian industrialists are to be given liberal terms to establish soap, glass, plywood, shoe and tabacco manufacturing units in Gabon under the protocol of technical and economic cooperation.

    The protocol was signed by officials of the two countries shortly before President Albert-Bernard Bongo of Gabon completed a four-day visit to India.

    On Monday (14 October) President Bongo had more than two hours of talks, mainly on industrial collaboration, with Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi.

    During his tour President Bongo praised India's stand against the Great Powers to defend the cause of Third World countries.

    SYNOPSIS: Gabon and India on Tuesday signed a protocol provising Indian investment in the African state. This follows discussion in New Delhi on Monday between Indian Prime Minister, Mrs India Gandhi, and the President of Gabon, Mr Albert-Bernard Bongo.
