    The President of Algeria, Houari Boumedienne, arrived in Tunisia on Friday (11 May) for official summit talks with President Habib Bourguiba.

    Mr Boumedienne crossed into Tunisia for the one-day visit, and left immediately for the site of the talks with Mr. Bourguiba -- the town of El Kef, site of the presidential palace, 110 miles southwest of Tunis.

    Talks were believed to centre on joint economic prospects for their two nations and oil development.

    SYNOPSIS: President Houari Boumedienne of Algeria, arrived in Tunisia on Friday for one day of talks with the Tunisian President, Habib Bourguiba.

    President Boumedienne was greeted by President Bourguiba and members of his government before the party left for talks in the village of El Kaf, site of the presidential residence.

    The two presidents went on a motorcade through the streets before their meeting. The summit meeting, arranged for several weeks, was believed to have discussed joint economic projects between the two North African states. Oil development especially along common frontiers of the two countries, was also on their agenda.

    Before the meeting the two leaders attended a memorial service at Sakiet Side for Tunisian civilians killed in the Algerian war.
