  • Description

The Palestinian guerrilla group which staged Tuesday's (19 November) raid on the Israeli town of Beit Shaan, claimed in Beirut the following day (Wednesday, 20 November) that another war was fast approaching in the Middle East.

A spokesman for the Popular Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PDFLP) said the front supported a proposed meeting between the Palestinians and Jordan, Egypt and Syria because it could help prepare for the fifty Arab-Israeli war.

Addressing a news conference in Beirut, the spokesman repeated threats that there would be more raids like that on Beit Shean.

Commenting on the burning of the bodies of the three commandos by an Israeli crowd after they had been killed by Israeli troops, the spokesman said Israel should preserve their ashes, "because we will be demanding these ashes."
PDFLP leader Abu Adnan told the newsmen that his forces were still present to strike whereover they liked.

PDFLP commander-in-chief Mamdouth condemned what he called "Jordanian hostility" towards the PDFLP struggle, claiming that Jordanian police attempted to arrest Jordanians living nor far from Beit Shean on suspicion of having helped the guerrillas.
