Bangkok airport was under heavy security as Thai Government officials, led by Prime Minister, Mr. Thanin Kraivichien, arrived to great the Singapore leader, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.
Mr. Lee is on a four day unofficial tour of Thailand. During his stay, Mr. Lee will hold lengthy talks with the Thai government on the subject of bilateral relations between Singapore and Thailand, both member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, known as ASEAN.
However, Reuters news agency reports that sources in Bangkok have disclosed that the discussions will also involve the latest attack by communist Cambodian troops in which three Thai villages were sacked an more than thirty Thais killed.
Singapore Government officials said that although ASEAN was a not a defence bloc, bilateral agreements between member states was possible "in order to fight a common enemy, such as the communists."
