    CANADA HAS JOINED THE AIRLIFT OF OIL TO ZAMBIA. THE FIRST REGULAR SHIPMENT LEFT LEOPOLDVILLE, IN THE CONGO, YESTERDAY (THURSDAY) FOR LUSAKA, THE ZAMBIAN CAPITAL, IN A HERCULES TRANSPORT OF THE ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE.

    THE HERCULES -- FROM NAMAO BASE, IN ALBERTA -- IS THE FIRST OF FOUR CANADA IS PROVIDING FOR THE AIRLIFT TO ZAMBIA, WHICH UP UNTIL RECENTLY GOT ITS SUPPLIES THROUGH REBEL RHODESIA.

    IT FLEW A TOKEN SHIPMENT LAST SUNDAY, BUT YESTERDAY'S FLIGHT MARKED THE START OF THE REGULAR SERVICE. (80 DRUMS -- TOTALLING ABOUT 4000 GALLONS (18000 LITRES) -- WERE LOADED ABOARD THE HERCULES.

    THE UNITED STATES IS EXPECTED TO JOIN THE AIRLIFT SOON. BRITISH AIRCRAFT HAVE BEEN TAKING PART FOR SOME TIME, OPERATING OUT OF TANZANIA, AND HAVE ALREADY TOPPED THE 100,000-GALLON MARK (454,600 LITRES).
