  • Description

The fifteenth anniversary of the Hiroshima atom-bombing was commemorated in Tokyo, Japan, by a prayer service and meeting, Aug 6, part of the sixth World Conference against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs.

An address by schoolboy Haruzo Aizo recalling Hiroshima's 135,000 victims reduced many women in the audience to tears. Then delegates from 29 nations listened to further addresses, and a Japanese Buddhist monk received a commemorative scroll from a Chinese co-religionist. Earlier in the day "Peace Marchers" who came from all over Japan to attend the Tokyo rally were attacked by Right Wing groups as being Communist-inspired.
