It was led by the Crown Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamed Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, who is also the State's Minister of Defence.

Since Bahrain became independent from Britain in 1971, the Bahrain Defence Force has had sole responsibility for security.

The Crown Prince proved himself a marksman with the SLR rifle.

Among those who bade farewell to Sheikh Hamed was the Commandant of the Infantry School Brigadier Kitson.

Although Bahrain is independent, links with Britain are still close.
