    The Arab guerrillas who seized the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok and held six hostages for 18 hours, arrived aboard a Thai airliner in Cairo on Friday (29 December).

    Aboard the aircraft with the guerrillas were Thailand's Armed Services Chief of Staff, Air Marshal Dawee Chullasapya, the Thai Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Charchia Chunhawah, and the Egyptian Ambassador to Bangkok, Mr. Mustapha El-Essawy. These three men took the place of the six Israeli hostages released in Bangkok.

    Air Marshal Chullasapya told reporters at Cairo Airport that he went to the Israeli Embassy and told the Commandos they were his guests.

    The Air Marshal said he had a friendly relationship with the Arab guerrillas who told him that they did not realise it was a sacred day in Thailand to install the Crown Prince.

    The apologised and said they did not care for Israel, but cared for the Thai people.

    The Egyptian Ambassador to Bangkok, Mr. El-Essawy, told the airport news conference that the commandos were very reasonable and showed understanding of the whole situation.
