Background: The world's fastest woman, taiwan sprinter Chi Cheng, returned to a tearful welcome in Taipei on Friday night. She has interrupted her studied in America to compete in the Asian Games which open in Bangkok on Wednesday.
Miss Chi, who holds three world sprint records, spent just eight hours in Taipei before leaving for Bangkok. She was accompanied by her American coach Vince Reel.
Lately she has been troubled by an injured left ankle and she has expressed concern whether it will be better in time for the Games. The next two days will tell, she told her fans at Taipei airport.
Miss Chi, who is 26, is expected to win gold medals in the 100 metres, 200 metres, 100 metres and 100-metre hurdle events.
