Background: A breath of spring came to London, UK, Nov 23 when the famous fashion house of Christian Dior displayed their 1961 Spring Collection. After the unrestrained look of last season, there is a tendency to return to more fitted clothes.
"Virevolte" is the title of this dress - it's in pink printed silk, and has a pleated skirt. The waist-line which was hidden last season is now emphasised, although there are still models where the line is implied rather than shown. Next, "Vert Galant" - a hunt green aleoutienne dress and jacket. Jackets either indicate the natural shape of the body or hang unfastened and free; and there are a few bolero jackets for the cocktail styles.
Among the spectators .... a big Canadian buyer. Now for "Le Gigolo". This is a scarlet wool suit with navy blue chiffon blouse. For cocktail wear, there's this coral satin organza dress with gold embroidery and coral belt - it's called "Corail Pale".
And now something special for that evening out - "Nuit D'Ispahan". It is a chalk white aleoutienne evening dress embroidered with blue and white crystals under matching full-length evening coat.
