Background: VISNEWS filmed the Grand Prix des Frontieres, at Chimay, Belgium, May 17. There were 21 starters on the grid for this 135-mile event. The starter gave the signal and off they went - a fast drive along the Belgium border, through narrow village streets.
The race was open to cars of up to 2,000cc. Taylor of Great Britain drove his Lotus-Climax at a cracking pace. He made the fastest lap, 108.64mph, and won the race with an average speed of 105.55mph.
Graham of Britain took second place, in a Lotus, just ahead of Murray of Britain in a Maserati. Piper, Great Britain, was fourth, in a Lotus, and Murdoch rounded off a sweeping win for Britain by taking fifth position.
