  • Description

President Sukarno of Indonesia said on Friday that death would be the penalty for those who deviated from the course of the Indonesian revolution. He was speaking to the Perwari - the Indonesian Women's Association.

The Perwari gave President Sukarno a warm welcome when he arrived at the Djakarta stadium. He was officially greeted by Mrs. Chaorulsaleh, Chairman of the vast women's association.

After speeches and singing, the Indonesian President was introduced to Miss Herlina, a leading member of the Perwari, who was the first woman guerilla to be landed in West Irian (formerly Dutch New Guinea) in 1963.

Addressing the women, President Sukarno said the Indonesian revolution was the basis of the struggle of the Indonesian people to achieve their ideal. If there were people who deviated from the course of the revolution, they would be shot.

An extraordinary military tribunal would not only try those directly involved in the abortive October 1st coup, but also those who deliberately deviated from the revolution, the President said.
