Mrs Marion Rice-Hart of Washington D.C., who is known throughout the United States as "America's Flying Grandmother", made a perfect landing at Atidjan Airport on Wednesday (January 13) on the latest state of her solo flying feat around the African continent. She is 79.
Mrs Rice-Hart pilots a single-engine 'Beechcraft'. She had arrived in Abidjan from Bamako, Mali. On Friday (January 15) she was scheduled to take-off again, this time to wing her way to Cotonou, Dahomey.
The "Flying Grandmother" answered questions put by an incredulous press shortly after arrival in Abidjan.
Although widely known as the "Flying Grandmother", Mrs Rice-Hart has never had any children.
