  • Description

Scores of coloured immigrants marched through the notting Hill district of London today (Saturday) to protest against alleged harassment by London's metropolitan Police. The protest was directed against three police stations -- Notting Hill, Notting Dale and Harrow road -- situated in areas with large coloured communities.

The organisers of the demonstration claimed that the police from the three stations had displayed prejudice against coloured people and the young, and alleged that the police were attempting to close down places where coloured people met.

The demonstrators expressed their anger at police raids on a number of premises frequented by coloured people, and attacked police searchers and interrogations. They claimed they were no longer able to enjoy the peace of their homes.
