A five-man military jury on Wednesday (22 September) acquitted U. S. Army Captain Ernest Medina on all charges arising out of the My Lai massacres of March 1968 in which more than 100 South Vietnamese civilians died.
Outside the courtroom, Captain Medina (35) and his wife Barbara were questioned by reporters. Medina confirmed that he would apply for discharge but said he did not plan to return to his home town of Montrose, Colorado.
