    King Faisal of Saudi Arabia and the Egyptian President Anwar Sadat began formal discussions in Cairo on Sunday (May 13) which were expected to centre on the Lebanese crisis and concerted Arab action against Israel.

    The Saudi Monarch arrived on Saturday (May 12) for a two day state visit to Egypt before flying on to Paris for a state visit to France. Although no statement was issued about discussions held on Saturday night and Sunday, reports said the two leaders talked about political, economic and military strategy aimed at dislodging Israel from the occupied Arab territories.

    In a recent speech President Sadat said the Saudi Arabia was now "contribution" effectively to the battle against Israel. and on Sunday (May 13) the weekly political review "Rose Al Youssef" indicated that Saudi Arabia might use oil as a weapon in putting on pressure in the Middle East crisis.

    The magazine said that Saudi Arabia had assured Washington that it was not prepared to stop up oil production to help ease the present United States energy crisis unless the Americans changed their policy of "complete bias in favour of Israel".

    Also on Sunday King Faisal met the Arab League Secretary General Mahmoud Riad. On his arrival at the airport King Faisal was greeted by President Sadat, Egyptian Vice Presidents, Deputy Premiers, Ministers and other senior officials. The Saudi Arabian party included the Defence and Aviation Minister Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz.
