    The 26th Session of the United Nation's General Assembly has approved the admission of three nations as new member-states. Bhutan, Bahrain and Qatar became the 128th, 129th and 130th members of the world organisation on Tuesday (21 September).

    In a special ceremony the following day, Secretary-General U Thant and the President of the General Assembly Adam Malik, joined representatives from the delegations of the new members in raising the flags of Bhutan, Bahrain and Qatar in the United Nations Plaza.

    SYNOPSIS: At the United Nations on Wednesday, Secretary-General U Thant and President of the General Assembly Adam Malik joined other officials in welcoming three new member-states to the world organisation.

    The nations of Bhutan, Bahrain and Qatar had ben officially seated at the opening of the Twenty-Sixth Session of the General Assembly on Tuesday. The flags, of the three new member states, brig to one-hundred and thirty the number of nations represented at United Nations Plaza. Representatives from the U.N. delegations of the three new members were warmly congratulated by the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly.

    Adam Malik, in welcoming the delegations of Bhutan, Bahrain and Qatar, said that he hoped that all the member-states in the Assembly would resolve to help make the Twenty-Sixth session an "Assembly of Universality".
