Background: The Japanese Floating Fair has begun a tour of major European ports, at Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The Fair is aboard the "Shin Sakura Maru", which will call at nine other ports on the continent. The Ship is on her maiden voyage.
The Fair combines trade exhibits with displays of traditional Japanese culture and customs.
A previous Japans Floating Fair visited European ports in 1964. On that occasion more than 170-thousand people inspected the exhibits.
The "Shin Sakura Maru" is due back in Tokyo on 26 November.
