    President Albert Bernard Bongo of Gabon arrived in Brazzaville on Friday, July 30, to hold talks with President Marien Ngouabi of the People's Republic of the Congo. He was met at the airport by President Ngouabi and by Claude-Ernest Ndalla, First Secretary of the ruling Congolese Labour Party (PCT) Prior to his departure again for Libreville, President Bongo said that his country and his Government would stand by the Congo in the event of a foreign attack - referring to recent rumours that mercenaries are preparing an invasion of the Congo from neighbouring Angola.

    SYNOPSIS: President marien Ngouabi - accompanied by the First Secretary of his ruling Labour Pary, Claude Ernest Ndalla - inspects a guard in Brazzaville on friday, July 30th. The President of the people's Republic of the Congo was preparing to meet his Gabbiness counterpart who was flying in from Kinshasa in a helicopter of the Popular Army of the Congo.

    President Albert Bernard Bongo of Gabon - who was a prime move behind the resumption of relation between the two Congos last year has been plying return visits to the two Congolese Heads of State who have both visited his country in the last year.

    The reception given to President Bongo was in accordance with the cordial relations that have long existed between Libreville and Brazzaville. Both countries are active members of the Central African Customs and Customs Union (UDEAC).

    The Gabonese Head of State was accompanied on his tour by Vice President Aubiane. After the official reception, Presidents Bongo and Ngouabi held a brief conference. Then, prior to his departure again for Gabon President Bongo declared that his country and his Government would stand by the Congo in the event an attack by foreign forced referring to recent rumours that mercenaries were preparing an invasion of the People's Republic of the Congo from neighbouring Angola.
