    DOCTORS DESCRIBED HIS CONDITION AS "QUITE SATISFACTORY", AND LORD AVON SAID HE FELT "FINE - EXCELLENT". HE SHOOK HANDS WITH HIS SURGEON, DR.RICHARD CATTEL AT THE HOSPITAL ENTRANCE. A GROUP OF 50 NURSES WAVED GOOD-BYE AS HE LEFT ACCOMPANIED BY LADY AVON.

    THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO FLY ON TO LONDON THE FOLLOWING DAY, BUT LATEST REPORTS STATE LORD AVON IS "UNFIT TO TRAVEL" AND THEY HAVE POSTPONED THEIR RETURN FOR TWO DAYS.

    SIXTY-FOUR-YEAR LORD AVON WAS ADMITTED TO THE LAHEY CLINIC OF THE NEW ENGLAND BAPTIST HOSPITAL ON MARCH 9 FOR THE OPERATION AND A GENERAL CHECK-UP.
