Background: Mr. Abul-Futuh, a spokesman for the Palestine News Agency (WAFA) gave newsmen in Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday (6 December), the Palestinian version of the fighting between their commandos and Israeli forces in the Kfar Rosh Hanikra area of Western Galilee.
The spokesman said that during the night, the Palestinian commandos had inflicted heavy casualties on the Israeli forces, and had damaged vital installations in attacks on several targets in Western Galilee.
The News Agency representative quoted a spokesman for the commando movement as saying that the guerrillas had broken a siege by the Israeli troops after fifteen hours. Earlier reports had said that the israelis had tried to encircle the commandos.
The representative said that the fighting inside the Kfar Rosh Hanikra settlement was still continuing. He claimed the Israelis were shelling the area which was controlled by Palestinian forces.
