  • Description

The French Air Force aerobatic team, La Patrouille de France, displayed their flying skill for the crowds at the Biggin Hill International Air Fair at the famed Biggin Hill airfield near London on Friday (19 May).

The French team used their Fouga Magister jets for the display, performing tight formation flying, high-speed low-level runs and overhead passes with red, white and blue smoke trailing out.

The French display was but one aspect of the three-day event. A number of other aircraft -- veterans and up-to-date, military and civilian -- flew over the crowds while others were parked around the show area in static displays.

The 1972 show -- the tenth anniversary of the fair -- concentrates on flying spectaculars and private aviation, and it's backed by a number of ground exhibits of interest.

According to its sponsor, a London newspaper, the Biggin Hill Air Fair has grown into one of the largest privately-run air shows in Europe.
