A new system of bus service is being tried. Instead of waiting for a supposed regular service of buses to arrive at each stop on their route, a new system is being tested where a passenger may arrive at a bus stop and phone a dispatch office from that stop. The dispatch service then radios the nearest bus to pick the passenger up and take him to his destination. The system is a combination of the regular bus system & a radio controlled taxi service. The passenger can call for a ride immediately instead of having to wait for a bus, but be may have to travel to other passengers destinations before be reaches his own. The system is still new, but someday will ben used more generally particularly for bus services that span from town to country, saving a number of buses from commuter services with few passengers.
Simulation of typical bus service day.
