President Makarios of Cyprus arrived in Athens this morning (Saturday) from Nicosia. He is in Greece for talks with Greek government leaders. Before leaving Cyprus the President said: "I am going to Cyprus problem, which, as is natural, does not concern the Greek Cypriots alone but the whole Greek nation."
At the airport in Athens, Archbishop Makarios was greeted by the Greek Foreign Minister, Mr. Stavros Kostopoulos, and the Grand Marshal of the Royal Court.
The President immediately drove to the residence of the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. George Papendreou. He had what is described as a "working luncheon" with the Prime Minister. Their meeting was also attended by Mr. Kostopoulos and it is reported that complete agreement was reached on policy matters.
President Makarios will meet General Grivas, the former EOKA leader, tomorrow. The Cyprus News Agency reports that he will ask the General to become Commander of the Cyprus National Guard Forces.
