Background: SYNOPSIS: The Nova Scotia Festival of the Arts opens for another season in the little village of Tatamagouche on the shores of Northumberland Strait. The Lieutenant Governor, Major General Plow, officially opened the event which features the Balmoral Girls' Pips Band of Stellerton and Scottish country dances in full regalia. Not far from the open stage, hand craftsmen were demonstrating their skill in a wide variety of fields under specially erected tents. The festival also features drama, concerts and folk song recitals by folksinger Ed McCurdy.
