    THE TROOPS HAD JUST RETURNED TO DJAKARTA.SOME OF THEM ONLY RECENTLY CAME OUT OF THE JUNGLE AFTER HEARING OF THE AGREEMENT WHICH WILL PLACE WEST NEW GUINEA UNDER INDONESIAN RULE FROM THE BEGINNING OF NEXT MAY.

    TWO WOMEN WERE AMONG THOSE HONOURED BY THE PRESIDENT.ONE WAS MISS HERLINA, THE ONLY WOMAN VOLUNTEER DROPPED INTO THE JUNGLE.SHE WAS ALSO AWARDED A "GOLDENT BELT".LATER, IT WAS STATED THAT MISS HERLINA HAD RETURNED THE BELT TO BE "PASSED ON TO THOSE WHO NEEDED IT MORE." THE OTHER WOMAN WAS MRS.JOS SUDARSO, WIDOW OF THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE INDONESIAN NAVY, WHO WAS KILLED DURING A BRIEF CLASH WITH DUTCH FORCES LAST YEAR.

    THE CEREMONY WAS FOLLOWED BY A PARADE OF INDONESIAN TROOPS THROUGH THE STREETS OF DJAKARTA.
