Background: About a hundred of the top breeding horses from Russian stud farms went up for auction in Moscow. The dealers came from Austria, Britain, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland and West Germany.
This is the sixth annual international auction of Russian stud stock. The previous sales brought in 380,000 dollars. Russian horses have greatly influenced the breeding of American, British and French horses. Some of the horses in yesterday's auction were the sons and daughters of Anilin, one of Russia's most famous race horses.
