    A cultural symposium was held in Dakar last Saturday at the close of a month-long exhibition of Picasso paintings, the first ever staged in Africa.

    The theme of the discussions were "Picasso: black art and its contribution to world civilisation".

    The symposium was addressed by the Senegalese Minister of Culture, M. Alioune Sene, and by M. Roger Garaudy, a professor from the French University of Poitiers.

    Several delegates from Africa, Europe and North America attended the symposium which was held at the National Assembly Building.
