Participating at the celebration of this anniversary were comrades Haxhi Lleshi, Chairman of the People's Assembly of the PRA, Mehmet Shehu Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the PRA, Comrades Abdyl Kellezi, Hysni Kapo, Spiro Koleka, Xhafer Spahiu and other leaders of our Party and State. Present were also the former delegates to the historical Congress as well as invited persons..
The Permeti Congress is a marked event in the history of the Albanian People. It was held in the free town of Permeti, then ruined completely by the fascists. The Permeti of today is a town completely rebuilt. In this congress, May 24th, 1944, in the heat of the struggle for freedom the foundations of new Albania and of the now Albanian state were laid. It publicly declared the prohibition of the return of king Zog to Albania as well as the non recognition of any other government that might be set up within or outside the country against the will of the people. The Congress decided the building of the new People's Democratic Albania according to the will of the people, represented by the National Liberation Anti-fascist Council, as the highest legislative and executive organ, defending the sovereignty of the people and of the new Albanian State. It charged the Council to set up the National -Liberation Anti-fascist Committee whose president was unanimously elected Gomrade Enver Hoxha, was the first Peoples' Democratic Government of Albania.
The People of Permeti accorded a very warm reception to the Party and State leaders as well as to the former delegates.
The museum hall in which the Congress was held 30 years ago, maintains the characteristics of that time. In the hall, where the former delegates and the invited persons have seated, a speech was delivered by Comrade Mehmet Shehu.
Then Comrade Mehmet Shehu signed the historical book of the Permeti Congress. The other participants at the celebration signed also after him.
On the 24th of May a rally was held in Permeti town dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the First Anti-fascist National-Liberation Congress of Permeti. Comrade Haxhi Lleshi spoke at this rally.
