    Background: After anti-nuclear demonstrations outside the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Foulness, Apr 25, 21 demonstrators were charged at Southend Magistrate Court.

    The campaigners refused to pay a fine of GBP2 and were sentenced to one weeks' imprisonment. The prisoners - both men and women - were taken to Holloway, Brixton and Pentonville prisons.
