    Experts from French speaking countries of Africa met in Abidjan on Monday (13 December) to exchange views and to coordinate their work in the field of education.

    SYNOPSIS: M. Ange Barry-Battesti, the Ivory Coast Minister of Technical Education and Professional Training, and his cabinet colleague M. Paul Yao Akato, Minister of National Education greeted foreign delegates before the meeting began.

    Experts on education from 20 French speaking countries of Africa attended the conference together with representatives of France, Belgium, Canada and Haiti. It was a preparatory meeting -- before the 30th session of education ministers of the French speaking world, scheduled to open in March next year in Brussels.

    Prior to the session--similar regional conferences will also be organised in Europe and in Canada. Their main object is to voice experts' opinions on the development of education in French speaking countries int eh different regions of the world.
