Top ranking officials were present for the recent opening of a new school of Yoga in Accra, Ghana. Fun by the Indian Association in Ghana, the Mahatma Gandhi Yoga School has already been flooded with applications from interested parties.
Speaking at the opening, the Interim Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Justice Crabbe described Yoga as a science which teaches strength of mind and body.
Another speaker was a the President of the Indian Association in Ghana, Mr. Mohan Daswani. He said that Yoga was an ancient philosophical system from India which aimed at the highest spiritual experience by intensive mental training.
Among the other guests at the opening were the Ministerial Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Mr. Oheneba Richardson, and the Acting Indian High Commissioner, Mr. Inder Malik.
After the ceremony, the large crowd watched as teachers at the school demonstrated some Yoga exercises.
