Background: More than a million Muslims from around the world have once again completed the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The birthplace of Muhammed, Mecca, is the holiest city of Islam.
SYNOPSIS: Mecca is the place towards which one fourth of the world's population faces everytime they pray. And it's the place where more than a million Muslims complete the yearly Hajj or pilgrimage, to answer the call of God. It was the birthplace of Muhammed, The Prophet who began the tradition of the Hajj by making the pilgrimage himself in the year before his death.
Muhammed initiated the Islamic ???uling that each Muslim, if able, must make one pilgrimage to Mecca dur their life. The city and surrounding area are prohi??? to non Muslims. This year the second time large group of Israeli Muslims have be allowed to complete the pilgrimage.
The Haji is an annual celebration of the life and faith of Abraham, regarded as the first Muslim. On the ninth day of the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, the Hajj takes place on Mount Arafat, the place of Knowing about 12 miles (20 km) from Mecca. there the pilgrims spend the day in meditation. Later they begin three days of rejoicing. Before completing the Hajj each pilgrim must cut a lock of his hair and pay a final visit to Mecca.
