    THE SWEDISH SKIER WAS MORE THAN HALF A MINUTE AHEAD OF SECOND ODD MARTINSEN OF NORWAY WHO WAS AN OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALLIST IN 1968.

    FEDOR SIMASOV FROM THE SOVIET UNION TOOK THIRD PLACE. THE 25-YEAR-OLD WINNER, WHO WAS PLACED THIRD IN THE SWEDISH CHAMPIONSHIPS EARLIER THIS YEAR, COVERED THE DISTANCE IN 47 MINUTES, 04.71 SECS, WITH THE SECOND MAN CLOCKING 47; 38.19 SIMASOV TOOK THIRD PLACE IN 47:49.00.

    A LARGE CROWD WATCHED THE RACE WHICH TOOK PLACE IN BRILLIANT SUNSHINE.
