    The first trade delegation from the People's Republic of China to visit Malaysia arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday (August 22). Intensive security precautions were in force at Kuala Lumpur airport for the arrival of the 13-man delegation. Ceremonies were kept to a minimum and the delegation members were whisked to their hotel in a fleet of cars with motorcycle escorts.

    During their stay in the country the delegation will visit oil palm and rubber estates, tin mines and Federal land development schemes around Kuala Lumpur.

    SYNOPSIS: Crowds lined vantage points at Kuala Lumpur Airport on Sunday for the arrival of the first trade delegation from the Peoples Republic of China ever to visit Malaysia. Intensive security precautions were in force at the airport for the arrival of the 13-member delegation. The team is led by Mr. Chang Kuang Tou, a member of the Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Director of the China National Chemicals (Imports and Export) Corporation. Ceremonies were kept to a minimum and the delegation members were later whisked to their hotel in a fleet of cars with motorcycle escorts.

    During their stay, the delegation members will visit oil palm and rubber estates, tin mines and federal land development schemes around Kuala Lumpur. Officially the visitors are quests of the State Trading Corporation, Pernas, and the Malaysian Government is only involved in and advisory capacity. The members of the delegation are expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister, Tun Abdul Razak.
