Does a rematch between world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammed Ali and challenger Joe Frazier need the ballyhoo which has come to surround these title fights?
Does a rematch between world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammed Ali and challenger Joe Frazier need the ballyhoo which has come to surround these title fights? Well apparently the organiser think it does. In New York on Thursday (17 July) they held a news conference. Ali was his usual self while the subdued frazier struggled to get a few words in to press his case. Whatever the outcome of the fight on October first, the verbal sparring and pre-fight publicity promises to beat all that's gone before.
Ali who lost to Fazier the firs time around and beat him on the rematch, will make around eight million dollars for the fight. Frazier who lost the world title he took form Ali to George foreman will make four million.
Whatever the outcome it will be the riches t prize money for a few hours work in sports' history...and the pre-fight skirmished will outdo anything the fight world has ever seen. Watch out!
