Background: Standing on the Mausoleum balcony in Moscow's Red Square Nov 7, Premier Khrushchev, President Liu Shao-Chi of Communist China, and other Soviet leaders watched a vast military parade marking the anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution of October, 1917 - the "October Revolution".

Two new types of rocket were seen during the display. Observers said that one appeared to be the air-to-air missile, and other ground-to-ground. Soviet Defence Minister Malinovsky, in a speech prior to the parade - said: "Our Army and Navy have everything needed to guard the frontiers of our state".

Missiles on view ranged from 10-feet tall "Silver Needles" - which were stated to have brought down the American U-2 plane in May - to 60-feet rockets. Then there followed tanks, conventional artillery and 20-feet long atomic cannons.

At the rear of the military parade came a 2????-hour civilian ??? carrying portraits of Lenin, ??? Soviet leaders, and models of their industrial work.

Russians walked and listened to music near the closed Red Square that evening as Premier Khrushchev proposed eight exuberant toasts at a Kremlin reception. Clinking glasses with the American and West German Ambassadors he proposed a toast to coexistence and peace and said that war would only bring "disaster".
