    IN OTTAWA ON TUESDAY CANADA AND POLAND SIGNED A LONG-TERM WHEAT AGREEMENT.OVER A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS POLAND WILL BUY ABOUT 44 MILLION BUSHELS, COSTING GBP31 MILLION.

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED BY CANADA'S MINISTER OF TRADE AND COMMERCE, MR.MITCHELL SHARP, AND THE POLISH MINISTER OF FOREIGN TRADE, MR.W.TRAMPCZYNSKI.

    PURCHASES UNDER THE AGREEMENT WILL BE ASSISTED BY THE EXTENSION OF CREDIT ARRANGEMENTS UNDER THE EXPORTS CREDITS INSURANCE ACT, PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT OVER THREE YEARS.

    POLAND HAS BEEN A REGULAR CUSTOMER OF CANADA AND HAS BEEN BUYING WHEAT THERE SINCE 1955.A STATEMENT ISSUED AT THE TIME OF THE SIGNING SAID THE AGREEMENT WAS "EVIDENCE OF THE DESIRE OF BOTH GOVERNMENTS TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THIS TRADE ON A REGULAR BASIS.
