Background: When the Smith family of New South Wales decided to move house..they did just that. Mounting their house on wheels they engaged a contractor to tow it thirty miles from a farm near Edgeroi to Narrabri.
The Smiths actually lived in the house for most of the two-week journey through towns, across creeks and grazing land.
Its appearance caused no small amount of excitement in Narrabri...some even gave up their breakfast to watch their new neighbours arrives.
Needless to say, certain problems have to be dealt with when people come to town...and bring their homestead with them. Telephone wires are cut and lifted to enable the Smith free passage.
