    THE STATE HOUSE AT ACCRA, GHANA, IS CURRENTLY HOUSING THE 11TH SESSION OF THE ASIAN-AFRICAN LEGAN CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE. THE TEN-DAY CONFERENCE WAS OPENED BY GHANA'S ATTORNEY GENERAL N.Y.B. ADADE, ON JANUARY 19TH IN THE PRESENCE OF THE 13-NATION DELEGATES, MEETING TO CONSIDER THE LEGISLATION OF REFUGEES' RIGHTS, INTERNATIONAL SALES OF GOODS AND INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.

    IN HIS INAUGURAL SPEECH, MR. ADADE SAID THAT THE COMMITTEE COULD, THROUGH REGULAR EXCHANGES OF IDEAS, LAY THE LEGAL FOUNDATIONS FOR A QUICK AND MEANINGFUL CO-OPERATION BETWEEN MEMBER STATES - MAKING IT EASIER TO SOLVE DIFFERENCES IN AN AMICABLE FASHION. HE ALSO URGED A WIDER MEMBERSHIP TO MAKE THE COMMITTEE MORE BROADLY-BASED AND MORE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE TWO CONTINENTS. THE COUNTRIES CURRENTLY REPRESENTED ARE BURMA, CEYLON, EGYPT, GHANA, INDIA, INDONESIA, IRAQ, JAPAN, NIGERIA, PAKISTAN, SIERRA LEONE AND THAILAND.

    MR. ADADE ALSO READ A MESSAGE FROM BRIGADIER AKWASI AFRICA, CHAIRMAN OF GHANA'S PRESIDENTIAL COMMISSION, IN WHICH HE STATED THAT HE HOPED THE CONFERENCE WOULD OFFER "A GUIDE-LIGHT TO A CONFLICT-TORN WORLD AND SHOW HUMANITY THE WAY TO PEACE AND PROGRESS".
