Background: LONDON MOTOR MECHANIC DEREK DEASON ARRIVED HOME TODAY (MONDAY) WITH HIS RUSSIAN WIFE ELENORA AFTER THEIR MOSCOW WEDDING, HELD UP FOR FIVE YEARS BY SOVIET AUTHORITIES.

PERMISSION FOR THE MARRIAGE CAME AFTER THE RECENT DEAL BETWEEN BRITAIN AND THE KREMLIN UNDER WHICH SOVIET SPIES PETER AND HELEN KROGER WERE EXCHANGED FOR LONDON LECTURER GERALD BROOKE AND TWO YOUNG BRITONS JAILED ON A DRUG-SMUGGLING CHARGE.

MR. DEASON, 38, MET ELENORA GINSBURGH, 39, WHILE HOLIDAYING AT A BLACK SEA RESORT IN 1961. THEY ORIGINALLY PLANNED TO MARRY IN NOVEMBER 1964 UNTIL DEASON WAS EXPELLED FROM THE SOVIET UNION.

THE COUPLE WERE MARRIED LAST THURSDAY (OCTOBER 30) AT MOSCOW'S PALACE OF WEDDINGS THE SAME DAY THAT ANOTHER BRITON, UNIVERSITY LECTURER MERVYN MATTHEWS, 38, MARRIED HIS RUSSIAN SWEETHEART, LUDMILA BIBIKOVA, A 30-YEAR-OLD RESEARCH WORKER.

AT LONDON AIRPORT AFTER THEIR ARRIVAL, MR. AND MRS. DEASON SPOKE TO REPORTERS ABOUT THE LONG WAIT FOR THEIR WEDDING.
