Background: United States Coast Guards have uncovered a stash of marijuana with a street value of about 22 million U.S. dollars (11 million sterling) in the wreckage of a helicopter which crashed on a time island in the Bahamas.
The cache, weighing about forty tons, is believed to have come from Colombia, and was found when Bahamian Officials detected marijuana as they inspected the wreckage found off Deep Water Quay.
Police are searching for two men who they believe purchased the helicopter shortly before the crash.
Most of the marijuana found was hard pressed, wrapped in plastic bags and covered in burlap. Federal drug authorities have confiscated the haul, which will be burned in a large incinerator at Ford Lauderdale.
