  • Description

The first group of 300 Japanese fishermen are released from detention in South Korea. The freed fishermen are loaded aboard the Korean repatriation ship Pyongtaek-ho which sailed from Pusan on Friday, Jan. 31st at 5:30 pm. for Shimonoseki in Western Honshu Island, Japan.

The first 300 fishermen happily marched through the detention gate to board buses waiting outside. The released fishermen jumped aboard the buses in a happy mood.

The detainees, who were not told until noon of the departure, broke into joy and disappointment as the 300 names were announced by South Korean Police Capt. Park Hae Chin.

Park told the remaining 600 inmates not to get disappointed if their names were not called this time, as the next ships would leave in the very near future.
